This Muslim woman donates $1 for every hate tweet she receives
Susan Carland is a 34-year-old woman living in Melbourne, Australia. She converted to Islam at the age of 19. As a Muslim woman living in Australia, she has always been the target of Anti-Islamic trolls on twitter who target her for everything from her religious beliefs to how she should dress. The abuse from mostly anonymous twitter accounts requests her to leave Australia, accuses her as a stealth jihadist and targets her appearance (mostly her hijab). She tried engaging them with them but soon realised that it’s not going to deter them.
Because she was targetted simply because she is a Muslim, she knew that she had to give them an Islamic response.
Koran states that “Good and evil are not equal. Repel evil with what is better“. So, instead of stooping at their level, she fought the evil and hatred with the best type of kindness and love.
For every Hate tweet she receives, she donates $1 to Unicef. Till date, she has donated more than $1000 to the Unicef. By using this amazing idea, she has been able to run all that virtual hate into tangible good for the children.
Unicef Australia acknowledged her and thanked her for turning hate into something wonderful – Education and healthcare for the needy children.
Soon, People all over the world started supporting her cause and donations followed
With all the hatred that is currently brewing all around the world, this is a perfect example of how we can fight hate with love
